[HD] TransLink 2024 XDE60 /24001/ route R5 (Ride Video)

(Overview)

The first day of service for 24001 on route R5 to SFU This bus is the first numerically TransLinks 2024 XDE60 order which have a few small differences from its predecessors:

Key differences:
-New front doors which allows for viewing the curbside mirror whilst the door is open.
-Powered centre axle using hub motors along with the traditional powered rear axle for better handling in snow and ice conditions.
-American Seating passenger seats rather than USSC passenger seats for weight reduction.
-Composite flooring rather than plywood flooring for weight reduction.
-5mm flush passenger windows rather than 6mm flush passenger windows for weight reduction.
-Aluminum wheels rather than steel wheels for weight reduction.

These buses are slated to replace the 2007 D60LFR order and have already knocked out half of the units at the time of this post. at this time they are all located out of BTC as they are tuned to help primarily on hills.
