May 1941. Luftwaffe dismissed Bristol Beaufighter as "flying barrel"—too large, too heavy, too slow for fighter role. Wrong. The aircraft mounted four 20mm cannons in concentrated nose arrangement: 64-80 projectiles per two-second burst. Concentrated firepower devastated fighters and bombers. March 1943: Thirteen RAAF Beaufighters destroyed entire Japanese convoy—8 ships, 2 destroyers sunk. 5,928 total produced across British and Australian factories. North Coates Strike Wing destroyed 150,000 tons shipping. German destroyer crews reported 15-20 casualties per attack. Post-war analysis: most effective anti-shipping platform of WWII. Japanese called it "Whispering Death." Inspired by verified World War Two events.
