Notes :
Ligament of radioulnar joint

1.proximal radioulnar joint (three

Ligaments)

a.annular Ligament

b.quadrate Ligament

c.oblique cord

2. Distal radioulnar joint (two

Ligaments)

a.dorsal radioulnar Ligament

b.palmar radioulnar Ligament

Proximal radioulnar joint

a. Annular Ligament

1. Strong band

2. forms a ring that encircles the

radial head

3. The proximal border of the annular ligament blends with the joint capsule, and the lateral aspect is reinforced by fibers from the lateral collateral ligament.

b. Quadrate ligament

1.extends from the inferior edge of

the ulna's radial notch to insert in the neck of the radius

2. The quadrate ligament reinforces the inferior aspect of the joint capsule

3. It helps maintain the radial head in apposition to the radial notch. The quadrate ligament also limits the spin of the radial head in supination and pronation.

C. Oblique cord

1.extends from an attachment of coronoid process on the ulna to insert just below the bicipital tuberosity on the radius.

2. The functional significance of the oblique cord is not clear, but it may assist in preventing separation of the radius and ulna.

Distal radioulnar joint (2 ligament)

a.dorsal radioulnar Ligament

It extend from dorsal aspects of the ulnar notch of the radius to insert on the ulnar fovea and base of the ulnar styloid process.3

b.palmar radioulnar Ligament

It extend from palmar aspects of the ulnar notch of the radius to insert on the ulnar fovea and base of the ulnar styloid process.

Interosseous membrane

interosseous membrane lies between the radius and ulna, providing stabilization at both the proximal and distal radioulnar joints.
