Sandie Okoro OBE joins the University of Birmingham as the new Chancellor in a special ceremony. As former alumna herself, Sandie studied Law and Politics at the University of Birmingham, and held roles at HSBC Global Asset Management, Schroders and the World Bank Group.

Sandie was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2024 New Year Honours for her services to diversity in International Finance. She has also received a lifetime achievement award from the UK Black Solicitors Network and was named one of the Power 100 Women by City A.M. and 100 Women to Watch by Female FTSE Board.

As Chancellor, Sandie will preside at degree ceremonies, celebrate with and inspire students on their graduation day. She will act as an advocate and representative of the University regionally, nationally and globally.
