While not essential in every case, the 'first' - or 'trial' - fitting can be a tremendous help when tailoring to the 'unusual' figure, and as an example of 'customer service' and 'attention to detail' it is a nice touch which is appreciated by the client.


I can usually safely omit this step when working to the figure that I most-often encounter, but there's always the chance that I won''t get it right the first time and if that happens I must then undo at least some of the work - which is a waste of time.
