Toddler Watercolor Portrait

Portrait demonstration! I love painting my niece Belle. I've put her in several of my studio paintings so far, and I'm sure I'll continue to paint her sweet face again and again throughout her life.

The first few days of a portrait are usually the most exciting to watch, and the rest of this painting is going to take a couple of weeks to finish, probably. So I've spared you from watching the boring stuff like windows and the ceiling. Colors used: cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red light, alizarine crimson, ultramarine blue, prussian blue, yellow green, dioxazine mauve, sepia, yellow ochre half burnt, flesh tint, burnt sienna, all by Old Holland. Opera by Holbein. Turquoise by Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolors.

Paper: 18.5"x16" cold press watercolor paper by Arches.

Awl: I can't for the life of me remember where I got this. You can find them at craft stores for $2-$3.

Brushes: #1 round by 6150-R by Utrecht. #5 round by Trekkel. 3/4 inch flat brush by Sax. Messed up #6 round by Loew-Cornell. #6, #8, #12 round brushes by Trekkel.

Nail polish: none! I'm giving my nails a vacation. :)
