Ewhurst Green - 1930's Southern Railway

Описание к видео Ewhurst Green - 1930's Southern Railway

Southern Railway stock from the late 1930s came to visit Ewhurst Green.

The import of Bananas moved from Hull to Southampton in 1933, with the Southern Railway building steam-hearted Banana vans from 1935. Even then vans were hired in from the LNER. In 1937 the Banana traffic moved to the Royal Albert Docks.

The ex.LSWR 4 Lav cross-country sets were reduced to 3 Lav in the late thirties. The date for shortening set 134 is unclear and was probably undertaken in July 1937 and certainly by July 1941 (with its TL going to 'Loose').

Maunsell High-Window set 447 probably lost its lining with a July 1937 repaint and is seen here augmented with a Restaurant coach and Third Open.

Built by the Southern Railway, the 2 BIL unis entered service in February 1937 followed by the 2 HAL units in May 1939. The last was withdrawn in July 1971.

The Banana vans were supplied by https://www.themodelcentre.com/ with weathered BR(S) versions expected soon.

Thanks go to Signalman Luke for providing his Southern Railway rolling stock to run along with his patient assistance during filming.
