Описание к видео a postcard from shakotan 🌄 cape kamui & shimamui coast 🚌 「積丹半島からのポストカード」

hello,

long time no see.
postcards are flimsy pieces of card stock with a nice picture on one side and nothing on the other — it’s hard to fit anything substantial in there before you eventually run out of space. the same thing happens when you try to edit 50 clips to a song that’s only 2 minutes and 48 seconds long.
but hey, if you’re reading this, here’s your postcard.
on the 22nd of august in 2019 i took a japanese (language) only bus tour to look at an ocean i’d never seen before. it was, as you would expect, blue. but it was a different kind of blue that stirred something in me.
now before you start — yes, i’m a pisces born in a tropical country. i’ve only ever known blue and green and salt and sun. i’ll search for those things in any place i go.
okay, if you’re really reading this, here’s your postcard, i know i promised i'd send you one — greetings from shakotan peninsula. it’s blue. wish you were here.
man, it’s so blue, and it’s so green, and the sun is beating down my back, and it feels the same but it doesn’t. maybe i’ll keep chasing that feeling in any place i go. it reminds me of the hills and the cliffs i saw somewhere up north, too. at this point i think i’ll keep heading north until i somehow fall off the face of the earth.
i’m doing okay. i’m kind of sick of writing about things i want and things i can’t have. and i’m sick of trying to figure out how those things are different only to find out they’re almost always the same. but that’s a conversation for another day, another trip, another postcard.
i’ll talk to you soon. stay safe.

Robin
