Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story - Extra Stage (Commentary & Translation)

Another strange world

Ah wonderful extra stage. The stage itself is...well it's hard as hell but for the most part all of the attacks are predictable...Or at least has a dodgeable pattern, however there are a couple of attacks that just aren't worth trying to dodge.

Mugetsu as a boss isn't too bad with only two phases. Her first phase is very luck based since she randomly teleports around while attacking whereas her second phase is basically summed up as "Know your hitbox". It's seriously more of a warmup to Gengetsu.

Gengetsu however is a mean bitch. Many of her attacks are very fast paced with very condensed bullets. Simply put if you haven't figured out where your hitbox is properly you are screwed. Seriously I should not be only halfway through the fight saying to myself "Oh so that's what the graze counter maxed out at. Good to know!"

However despite this she's not to awful bad. Very few other attacks are messy luck based patterns so knowing what your getting into along with practice to get good reflexes and you'll beat it.
