How to Fix a K&M mic stand

I love this mic stand! It fits in a carry-on size bag. It's super sturdy. It has almost never failed me. My mic stand busted and I couldn't tighten the base that holds the tripod legs. It was a little plastic piece that broke because I had too much weight on the stand with an ipad clipped to it or I tightened it too hard or maybe it'd just been five years and the thing decided to give out. I was keeping it working with gaff tape, but decided to get it fixed.

So I ordered the replacement part for a few bucks and now it's good as new!

I couldn't find a video on how to repair or replace this particular part of the mic stand and so I ended up using a dremel tool to shave off the flange. That was not the smartest way to do it because you can actually bump off the hardware at the top of the stand. I show you how in this video.
