French voters have chosen a conservative who admires the United States as their next president.
Projections from four polling agencies show Nicolas Sarkozy (nih-koh-LAH' sar-koh-ZEE') winning 53 percent of the vote---after a hotly contested race.
Minutes after the polls closed, his Socialist opponent, Segolene Royal (seh-goh-LEHN' roy-AL'), gave a concession speech---thanking her nearly 17 million voters....
