Lucknow University students arrested for symbolic protest — the question isn’t about Manusmriti, it’s about who decides the limits of dissent in today’s India.

Several students of Lucknow University were reportedly arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police after they burned copies of the Manusmriti on campus to protest caste-based discrimination and to uphold the constitutional values championed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
