Hi, I’m Wendy Davis and today’s video is how to be captivating in a close up performance.

Now the close-up is the most important shot for the actor to master. If you do it well, the audience will fall in love with you. If you do it poorly, you’ll have them running from the theater and changing the channel.

That’s why it is so critical to master the close-up.

Now there are four components to a captivating close-up:

1. Maximum exposure of the eyes
2. Seamless acting
3. Emotional availability and vulnerability
4. Active listening

So let’s talk about her performance.

She was emotionally available and vunerable. Her acting was absolutely seamless. And she gave us maximum exposure of the eyes by minimizing her movement and relaxing her face.

No wonder she got an academy award for this movie!
