In a previous video we showed you tips and tricks for installation of a tight bicycle tire. Here we look at removal difficult bicycle tire from a difficult rim. First work your way around the bike tire pushing the tire bead toward the center well of the rim and releasing the bead from the hook of wheel rim. You may have to work your way around several times. In some cases with tubeless tires, this may be enough to remove a bead from a tubeless tire.
Other times you may resort to tire levers. Remember to use only plastic levers since metal may scratch the rims, especially if you're dealing with a carbon rim. But the standard technique of inserting tire levers under the tire bead and hooking the lever onto a spoke may not work for removal of a tight bicycle tire. Again, push the bead toward the center of the rim all the way around. Insert one lever under the tire bead and allowing it to remain upright (not push down). Be sure it is under only one bead and not both by checking that the tire lever is not sticking out the other side. Move about 6 to 8 inches along the tire bead / rim and insert the second tire lever. By leaving the first tire lever upright just caught under the bead, there is often time enough room to insert the second lever. Now, pushing both tire levers down at the same time will, in many cases, pop the bead over the rim. Continue to remove the bead with one of the levers. If you're dealing with a clincher, remove the tube starting away from the rim and then remove the valve as shown in the video. To remove the other tire bead, turn the wheel to the opposite side. Pull up and push the other rim up and over the rim edge.
Removal of tubeless tires may as the tubeless tire bead may be firmly under the rim. involve several tips and hacks. Make sure all the air is out. Sometimes you can push on the tire just above the rim with your thumbs. If that fails, place the wheel with the disc rotor up (so as not to damage or bend the rotor) and place the tire (opposite the valve) on a 2x4 or, if out on the road, a rock, curb, rail road tie or step. Be sure that the wheel rests on the rubber of the tire and not the rim. Place you foot on the rubber of the tire and pull up on the rim. This should release the bead from the lip of the rim. With your thumbs push the rest of the bead off the rim. It should be pretty easy to use your thumbs to push the bead off the rim with you finger. If not, we show you another hack with your foot. Push the beads toward the center of the rim into the central well go give you a little more room. Then either pull the tire up and over the rim with your hands or use the tire levers as shown above.

These techniques may help with remove tire or replace tire as well as repair flat tire while out cycling. This is also a key tyre repair.
