Situated in the Iwami-Ginzan silver mining area in Shimane Prefecture, a Japanese village Omori became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007 for its preservation of ancient wooden buildings. When the silver mines closed in 1923, Omori began to die, but the financial crash of 2008 and the devastating earthquake of 2011 brought unexpected change. People all over Japan started to search for new ways of life, and their search led some of them to Omori.
