The Cistercian abbey of Saint Mary of Rivalta is a religious building that belongs to the monumental complex of Rivalta Scrivia, a hamlet of Tortona, on the left bank of the Scrivia stream, near the intersection of ancient Roman roads (via Aemilia Scauri and via Postumia) , which became important commercial transit and pilgrimage routes in the Middle Ages.
