Pena Palace Inside Tour - Most beautiful fairy-tale like castle in Portugal + Sintra walking tour

Описание к видео Pena Palace Inside Tour - Most beautiful fairy-tale like castle in Portugal + Sintra walking tour

We did this shore excursion with Norwegian Sun on disembarkation day. The cruise line was able to place all our luggages in the tour bus and at the end of our tour, we either dropped off at a place convenient to us or back to the cruise port with fellow passengers. We had enjoyed our tour though we did wish we could have more time exploring this beautiful palace and its grounds.

Introduction
The Pena Palace(Portuguese:Palácio da Pena)is a Romanticist castle in São Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra, on the Portuguese Riviera. The castle stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra. On a clear day it can be seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. This beautiful palace is an outstanding example of the 19th-century romanticism style of architecture, with its vividly painted terraces, ornamental battlements and statues of mythological creatures.
Millions of tourists flock to Sintra each year to visit this fascinating palace and its grounds.
With its rich history, from a chapel to a monastery to a Disney-like castle, the Pena Palace became the National Monument of Portugal in 1910. The palace is also one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Today, it is used to host state events by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.
