Simply Drawing with Everett - Episode #79 - Drawing cars in perspective will improve the ability to see the scale of the Landscape and review the art of gesture drawing, contour drawing and using the right side of the brain.

Use the box method and see the three sides (top, side, and front or back) of any object.

The reference photo was taken on location during a Plein Air Sketch on the road looking from an overpass.

The drawing starts out the same for every subject. Sighting is used to get the dimensions, and proportions for proper sizing and location of the subject on the drawing surface.

Using Modified Contour Drawing technique by looking at the object and drawing what you see. Estimating the sizes and angles are critical in getting a good resemblance of the object.

The initial part is to use gesture drawing and compose the basic outline of the subject. The next step is to modify and add to the outline more information using contour drawing and drawing the subject as the eye sees it. The right side of the brain is used to capture the contour of the subject as the viewer sees it. The final step is to add details and shading to complete the drawing as a complete work of art.

The preliminary results are reviewed and discussed. Viewers are invited to draw and submit their examples to Facebook page "Everetts Watercolors Art Group."

A finished example is shown at the end to see the results of the final drawing and compared with the reference photograph.
