This high profile project repurposed an abandoned 1950's women's dormitory building into flexible student support functions, academic, and administrative office space. The project is a model for providing flexible space and open work environments as well as surge space for short term occupancy on the Texas Tech campus. D/P/S worked with the steering committee and the end users to create a flexible and collaborative environment for students, faculty, and staff.

D/P/S used thermography mapping to reveal the presence of moisture and thermal bridging on the building exterior. This allowed the team to make informed recommendations on where and how to add the modern control layers for water, air, vapor, and thermal insulation.

Weeks Hall is a contributing resource in the Texas Technological College Historic District. D/P/S developed strategies for TTU to achieve Historic Tax credits for the restoration of the exterior of the building, including window replacement.

The double loaded corridor with existing dorm rooms was inefficient for the new uses to be housed in the building. Creating a more open floor plan with offices located on one side only resulted in higher occupancy and access to daylight and views. New building systems were consolidated at the center of each wing, including mechanical rooms, IT and electrical rooms, restrooms, and coffee bars. Chilled beams were employed to eliminate ductwork and maximize ceiling height, due to minimal floor to floor heights.
