BMW F32 435i N55 Active Autowerke intercooler DIY installation

This is the full DIY installation of the Active Autowerke intercooler into a BMW F32 435i. I strongly recommend this upgrade, especially paired with the Active Autowerke charge pipe. Upgrading both only makes sense.

This install really is simple, and a significant step forward in product quality and performance over the OEM component. I have seen and heard examples of the factory pieces failing under normal driving stress, let alone if you are working towards the significant performance headroom that this platform and N55 motor has available.

The intercooler is an important next step component, along with an upgraded charge pipe, in seeing real gains from your turbo. In this case, the intercooler is complimented by the Active Autowerke charge pipe and Burger Tuning JB4 tuning system. These combined start to expand into the significant power and torque gains that the N55 motor is still capable of with only a little work.

This work absolutely CAN be done with a jack and a pair of jack stands. A lift just makes it easier and faster. As ALWAYS, be safe using a jack and getting under your car, and never just use a jack by itself without stands in case the hydraulics fail. Hydraulic floor jacks can and will fail without warning, and jack stands will save your life.
