July 13, 1931 - How Anti Hindu Riots Day Became Martyr's Day. Thanks to divisive, communal politics unleashed by Kashmir centric #netas Reality: it was on this day the seeds of separatism were sown on this fateful day, marking the beginning of a cycle of #violence and stone-pelting in #Kashmir. Unfortunately, the narrative has been distorted, with stone-pelters being glorified as 'martyrs' and the real victims - the Kashmiri Hindus who were brutally targeted, looted, and killed - being demonised. The politics of graves and martyrdom has continued to this day, with leaders like #SheikhAbdullah and #OmarAbdullah perpetuating this divisive narrative to stay politically relevant. But the question remains: if the 1931 rioters who attempted to breach the prison were fired upon and considered martyrs, why does Omar Abdullah remain silent about the numerous lives lost during his tenure? The selective memory and hypocrisy of these leaders only serve to further polarise the region.
