Описание к видео Eating Disorders in Youth Sports: Warning Signs & What Parents Can Do | Dr. Kate Bennett

Real Talk for Sports Parents Podcast (Ep. 19) 🎙️
Eating Disorders & Youth Sports: What Every Sports Parent Needs to Know | with Dr. Kate Bennett

Worried about eating disorders in youth sports, disordered eating, body image pressure, or perfectionism in young athletes? In this episode, host Samantha Livingstone sits down with Dr. Kate Bennett—clinical sport psychologist and founder of Athlete Insight + Full Send Consulting—to talk about what sports parents need to know to better support their child’s mental and physical health.

Dr. Kate shares her personal athletic journey (multi-sport → equestrian → competitive cycling/mountain biking) and what she’s learned as both a therapist and sport psychology professional working with athletes. Together, we unpack how performance pressure, “doing everything right,” and perfectionism can quietly fuel unhealthy relationships with food, exercise, and self-worth—sometimes in the kids we least expect.

You’ll learn how to:
✅ Spot the gray area between “healthy eating” and disordered patterns
✅ Navigate conversations about body image without shame or blame
✅ Create a safe space for vulnerable, honest communication
✅ Reduce fear-based performance pressure so athletes can access confidence and flow
✅ Use family meals and everyday routines to support connection and wellbeing

⚠️ Note: This episode is for education and awareness and is not medical or mental health advice. If you’re concerned about an athlete’s health or safety, reach out to a qualified healthcare professional in your area.
