This wild hyena den is located on Pridelands Conservancy, part of the Balule Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa.

At night, there is an infra-red light which shines, helping viewers to see more than they otherwise would. This light cannot be seen by animals, or humans without the using an infra-red camera.

Update on the new camera: We do apologise that we are behind on the rolled out, thanks to unforeseen tech challenges, but a lot has been done which is not visible. We have rolled out two new fiber ports and got them connected to the microwave network. The solar panel stands had to be built from scratch and are ready but still need to be move to site. Our main custom made signal repeater station on Pridelands also received a massive upgrade to assist with the new camera. This includes a 100mb fail over link. With regards to the camera itself, we are trying things with a 4K quality 180 degree view camera which have never been done before (which is Painteddog.tv's favourite thing to do), so the setup is a little complicated. The 180 camera also allows individuals to pan and zoom their own view. The Boskamp and Seskant cameras have been taken apart for refurbishment. Finally, the cloud infrastructure has been more challenging than we anticipated, but the blocks are falling in place and, as we have been doing since 2019, we will keep the live cam networking growing and improving. We are really thankful for all the support from each and every one of you!
