English Major Decodes Taylor Swift’s The Albatross Lyric Meaning, Lore, & Literary Romanticism

2014 Nina would be THRILLED to learn that her favorite musical artist was using some of her FAVORITE literary references in what would become The Tortured Poet’s Department.

Today we look at The Albatross, which as a person who has held The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner close to my literary heart, the use of The Albatross as imagery is extra exciting for me.

I wanted to break down The Albatross, talk about Romanticism, Taylor’s past use of Romanticism references in music, and show how she takes The Albatross and uses it as her own metaphor.
