The Kennesaw Police Department and its officers created the BlueLine Story Time; a 15-part video series that highlights a Kennesaw Police Officer reading a children’s book in a location that is historically and notably significant to the City of Kennesaw. As a means to assist with keeping the community engaged safely, BlueLine Story Time was created to ensure that all children, whether they are home-schooled, attending public or private school, in quarantine, or virtual learning, would be able to experience an officer-read children’s story while also learning facts about the historic and notable places in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Kennesaw, Georgia sits 25 miles north of the City of Atlanta and boasts 32,000 wonderful and diverse citizens. It is home to 20 community parks and 5 luscious trailheads that allow access to the Kennesaw greenway trail system. The City of Kennesaw prides itself on its excellent school system, its growing eclectic downtown area as well as its efforts to maintain its history while also progressing forward for the benefit of future generations. The City of Kennesaw Police department is made up of 75 diverse officers who value community engagement and have a passion to serve with Integrity, Excellence, and Respect – even with its youngest citizens, which is why the Blue Line Story Time is such a popular project to be involved in!

During the recorded reading, a Kennesaw Police Officer provides interesting and educational facts about the location and themselves, in an effort to assist with community engagement during this unprecedented time when field trips and first-responder visits have become limited due to the pandemic.

The series is set to launch Monday, November 29th, with 6 videos accessible from the City of Kennesaw Police website as well as on various social media platforms. Each week, the department will release a new video highlighting one of their diverse officers reading a new story from a new location.
