Most readers of the New Testament assume that the miracles of Jesus are to convince people that he is the Messiah. Not so in Mark, our earliest gospel! In fact, one could even say if your faith is based on the miracles you will fail to understand Mark's core message--what he calls the Secret of the Kingdom.
