Alright, you thought I'd forgotten about this one, didn't ya? Me too.

The production of "BICOCA" (originally "Give me Back my Coca1ne", and alternatively "go with the blow") was at a standstill until I must've had a visit from the Virgin Mary herself fr.

Might be a bit cheeky to say, but this sounds so good it doesn't even feel like a child of mine, nope. Also, most of the track was produced on a single, tranceful (?) night. Quite the miracle, indeed.

Solaria absolutely nails it with these sorts of tracks that are a mix between lo-fi and progressive EDM. The tweaks I've made to her vocals are minimal, just fine-tuning really.

And then there's Maika. Look, I've done what I could: but where there's no bush, there's no taters. It's like if Ellen went to the karaoke with Ariana Grande - comparisons are bound to happen.

Nah, but seriously. It's been no bed of roses, you know? My way of working with Vocaloid is to ignore vibratos and split the notes as much as I can for those mad pitch rises and drops.

And as for this particular song, that approach fit like a Christ figurine carrying a gun on each hand -- weird, offensive and too edgy to even work.

So, long story short, I had to use Vocalistener as well. Chucked the .wav files of Solaria belting out tunes in Spanish into the Yamaha plug-in, and theeere we go: it just works a treat. Crazy, isn't it?

This ain't even in the top 10 of unprofessional quick fixes for this project. But hand it to myself, if I hadn't spilled the beans, you lot wouldn't have clocked it. That's how slick I am. Oh my, isn't that the truth...

Ain't life grand when you like to make things way, WAY more complicated than needed? That's why I walked the extra mile and done a PV that's a sight for sore eyes, I tell ya. Or at least that was my intention.

I'm gonna get all fancy here. Solaria's design symbolizes self-destruction and how those actions that start off as a laugh end up consuming you bit by bit.

A real one told me once the white powder slowly strips away parts of your personality. I've tried to make Solaria visually describe that concept.

Maika's design was a breeze (since I had it done YEARS ago, believe it or not). I love it when my past self does the assets for me – it hardly ever happens.

Her playful outfit full of contrasts, looking like she got dressed by a randomizer, fits perfectly as a counterpoint to soften the mood of the theme.

This song needed a light and fun touch more than anything else: and for that, Who else but my Maika?

Now, I'm hardly a visual artist. It's not something I'm particularly passionate about: more like a burden I bear to give my work a certain pageantry.

What I mean is, by Jove, either someone shows up to help me with designs (I'll pay whatever it takes), or don't expect a rollout like this for a long time.

BICOCA is a real dark track that leans much closer in theme and style to my early works than to my more recent direction, "Dale Peach" (link).

As for the song itself, I'm keeping mum, but it's certainly not my cry for help. Yours truly got no beef with columbian powder - quite the opposite. But enough about me.

The lass in the lyrics, she was a good friend of
mine when times were tough. I'm just hoping she finds some healing and the guts to get out of that rut she's in.

Bit of a downer, this. Anyway, that's all.

Hope you lot like it! 🌈💜

lyrics:

I sing alone since
you took my Spotify account.
I'm sniffing a bag of glue
because you took all my drugs

What is done is done,
think I'll be alright
If I sell my soul
for a place to spend the night.

Won't hold it against you,
I'm made of light.
But baby, please,
just tell me why-

Why did you have to take my cocaine?
(Take my cocaine)

My dealer's gone for the weekend
(For the weekend)

Tired of hearing that you love me
(WTF?)

Now, you can take my clothes,
but give me back my coke,
you f*cking bastard

Without my stuff,
without my joy.
I'm cooking regrets
in ammonia and tin foil.

I should go back to mama,
but we grew apart.
I'd like to drive away
but you took my car.

Qué más me da,
soy un ser de luz.
Me pinto la raya
y tiro para el club

No soy rencorosa,
lo sabes bien.
Cari, explícame otra vez-

¿Cómo te has llevado mi coca?
(Toa' la coca)

Aún me quedaba media roca.
(Voy to' loca)

Solo me quieres cuando toca
(WTF?)

Quédate mi bra, pero no mi fa,
hijo de p*ta

Llévate mi corazón,
pero no mi coca, no.
No te la lleves.

I'm gonna let you have my all,
only give me back the coke.
Know you know better.
