Thousands of demonstrators gathered in the French capital Paris to condemn the “genocide in Gaza”.
Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in the evening hours in the capital's Saint-Augustin Square to condemn the “genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people” upon the call of the Association for Palestine Solidarity in France (AFPS), carrying Palestinian flags and banners.
Protesting against Israel's attacks on Gaza with banners reading “Stop the massacre in Gaza”, “Your silence makes you complicit”, “Netanyahu is a war criminal”, “No to genocide in Gaza”, the demonstrators chanted “We are all Palestinians”, “Gaza, Paris is with you” and gave messages of support to Palestine.
The demonstrators continued their protests despite heavy rain.
On the other hand, the police intervened the demonstrators with tear gas and did not allow them to leave the demonstration area for a long time.
The protesters left marks with their hands dipped in red paint on shops selling products of brands that support Israel.
Some protesters continued the demonstration in the subway, chanting “ceasefire” slogans.
MPs from the opposition Unbowed France (LFI) party, known for its support for Palestine, also participated in the demonstration.
In a press release on May 27, AFPS criticized the international community's, and in particular France's, response to the attacks.
