One of the most disliked scenes in all of Dragon Ball is when Goku gives Cell a senzu bean before his fight with Gohan. While I find people’s hatred for the scene more a misunderstanding of what’s actually going on rather than valid criticism - I think it does leave the question open as to what would have happened if he didn’t. So for today’s Dragon Ball what if, we enter the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z and ask the question - What If Goku DIDN’T Give Cell a Senzu Bean?
Our story begins at the moment Son Goku decides to resign from his fight with Cell. Everyone is in shock that Goku would resign from this fight and they’re only more astonished when Goku announces Gohan as the next fighter to face Cell. Goku explains his plan to everyone and despite protests from Piccolo - Gohan’s words make it clear he might be far stronger than anyone imagined, even if he isn’t confident in that fact himself.
