SEPTEMBER 2022, LONDON: Kolja walked 900 miles from his native Germany to London's Belmarsh Prison to spread word of Julian Assange's plight. It was a grueling 10-week journey in which he towed his supplies in a makeshift barrow adorned with FREE #ASSANGE posters, camping out along the way. This video charts Kolja's arrival at maximum-security Belmarsh — AKA Britain's Guantanamo — on Sep. 17.

Kolja hoped prison personnel would accept his offer of two copies of Nils Melzer's book "The Trial of Julian Assange": one copy for the prison governor, and the other for the prison library. Staff on the day did not accept the books.

Accompanied by his son, Kolja walked from Germany, through the Netherlands, Belgium and France — where he crossed the ferry to Dover — then north through south-east England to Belmarsh Prison. He relayed greetings to Assange through the prison entrance's intercom from the people he had met along the way.

Julian Assange has been incarcerated at London's high-security Belmarsh Prison since April 2019.

On April 11, 2019, he was dragged out of the Embassy of Ecuador by UK police in violation of his asylum rights. He was taken directly to Westminster Magistrates' Court, and then to the prison, where he has languished ever since.

Assange faces extradition to the US for WikiLeaks' publication of that state's war crimes and malfeasance. On October 8, 2022, the day of London's #SurroundParliament event demanding his release, Assange was diagnosed with Covid and placed on 24-hour lockdown by Belmarsh authorities.

Charged with no crime in the UK, he is not serving a sentence. He has been imprisoned by UK authorities at the US's behest, in longterm near-solitary confinement and other verifiably torturous conditions.

More than 30 ex-CIA officials are on record admitting that the agency plotted to assassinate Assange during ex-head Mike Pompeo's tenure, while the WikiLeaks founder was still at the Ecuadorian embassy.

Former UK Home Secretary Priti Patel, who green-lighted Assange's US extradition on June 17, 2022, hosted "good friend" Pompeo in London less than two weeks later.

Pompeo set the stage for the political and judicial persecution and smear campaign against Assange by the US, Swedish, Ecuadorian and UK authorities with his 2010 verbal rampage against WikiLeaks, a gaslighting exercise that facilitated the ongoing obfuscation of the countless US war crimes WikiLeaks exposed.
