(19 Sep 2017) South Korea and the Unites States conducted a joint exercise on Tuesday as tensions on the Korean peninsula remain high.
The 2nd Armoured Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division along with the South Korean Army took part in a combined arms collective training exercise - "Warrior Strike VIII" - according to US Forces Korea.
The drills were intended to improve "interoperability... our ability to plan together and come together in an emergency situation", said commander Rob Kimmel.
They take place against a backdrop of continued tension over North Korea's missile programme and tests.
