Seoul and Washington reached a deal that guarantees access to the Korean market for one-hundred-and-ten million dollars of U.S. rice per year from 2020.
That amounts to approximately 132-thousand tons of rice.
The agreement comes after years of negotiation on South Korea's rice imports,... after a WTO measure allowing protection for the domestic market expired in 2014.
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer lauded President Donald Trump for the wider access to the Korean market,... and said the agreement would prove to be "enormously beneficial" for American farmers.
