Our boats marine motor, a 2006 Mercruiser 6.2 mx horizon has developed a strange noise that sounds like an exhaust leak. However, I am unable to find the location of the leak. Not being sure if the leak is coming from a valve leak, a blown head gasket or an exhaust manifold leak, we troubleshoot the noise by conducting a compression test on the engine cylinders and inspect the exhaust manifold, risers and elbows. Will we find the cause? Will it be major engine damage and require head removal? Or worse an engine replacement? Stick around and find out!
