[Not sponsored, honest review] Northern BBQ in Burnaby is currently offering a $16.99 all-you-can-eat-lunch buffet which is available from 10 am - 2:30 pm from Monday - Thursday.

In terms of the pricing, it is $16.99 for adults; seniors 65+ 20% off; children 5 - 12 50% off; and children under 4 are free.

We visited Northern BBQ for the lunch buffet and here is my honest review.

How it works is that the staff handles the buffet and scoops the items that you want into a stainless steel tray.

Some of the items offered included clams, pork ribs with radish, stir-fried shrimp, pork & cabbage dumplings, ma po tofu, spicy chicken, tomato and eggs, fish with sauerkraut, smashed cucumber with garlic, pork and pepper stir-fry, broccoli and more.

They also offer rice in the buffet. As for drinks, they have tea and soy milk.

If you don’t want to dine-in, you can get a single takeout box with buffet items for $16.88.

In general, the food was reasonable.

They had one my favourite Sichuan dishes, shredded pork with garlic sauce 鱼香肉丝, but a milder less spicy version.

The ma po tofu was legit. The pork & cabbage dumplings were very good and had a good amount of tender filling.

The more valuable items at the buffet were probably the clams and the stir-fry shrimp. The soy milk didn’t taste very good because it seemed quite watered down. The Chinese donut was pretty good too.

All in all, the buffet was OK for the value.
