Late Blight of Potato

Symptoms:
1. On potato, early symptoms of late blight first appear on leaves as small, circular or irregularly shaped, dark necrotic lesions within 3 to 5 days of initial infection.

2. Symptoms may first appear on mature lower leaves where high humid/damp conditions and cooler temperature are most likely to prevail.

3. However, early infections can also occur in other parts of the foliage under favorable weather conditions. This includes air currents that can carry spores from nearby infected fields or volunteer potato plants.

4. On petioles and stems, symptoms appear as dark, water-soaked lesions. Lesions expand with time as the pathogen colonizes the internal plant tissues. On mature lesions, the pathogen produces glistening white spore-bearing structures called sporangia on the underside of the leaves or surface of stems.

5. As the disease progresses, the entire infected tissue will blight and decay. Tubers become infected at any stage of their development and they start to turn brown and rot slowly from the outside. Infected tubers become susceptible to secondary infections by other soft rot pathogens present in the soil or at storage.

রোগের নাম: আলুর মড়ক/নাবী ধ্বসা (Late blight of potato)
Phytophthora infestens নামক ছত্রাকের আক্রমনে এ রোগ হয়ে থাকে।

Symptoms :
প্রথমে পাতা, ডগা, ও কান্ডে কিছু অংশ ঘিরে ফেলে। বাতাসের আপেক্ষিক আর্দ্রতা বেশি থাকলে ২-৩ দিনের মধ্যে জমির অধিকাংশ ফসল আক্রান্ত হয়ে পড়ে। ভোরের দিকে আক্রান্ত পাতার নিচে সাদা পাউডারের মত ছত্রাক চোখে পড়ে। আক্রান্ত ক্ষেতে পোড়া-পোড়া গন্ধ পাওয়া যায় এবং মনে হয় যেন জমির ফসল পুড়ে গেছে ।

Management:
১. রোগমুক্ত বীজ ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
২. আক্রান্ত জমিতে সেচ যথা সম্ভব বন্ধ করে দিতে হবে।
৩. রোগ দেখা দেওয়ার সাথে সাথে Acrobat MZ, Haymencozeb ৪গ্রাম/ লিটার অথবা হেডলাইন টিম ২.৫গ্রাম/লিটার ইত্যাদি অনুমোদিত ছত্রাকনাশক ৭-১০ দিন পর পর স্প্রে করতে হবে।
