There is a tree in the Zen Monastery of China whose leaves look like gold. Yes friends, the name of this tree is Ginkgo. When the leaves of this tree fall in the autumn season, then this sight is very tempting. About 60 thousand people come to see it for 20 days after the leaves of the tree fall.

This tree Known as 'living fossil'
It is also called the maidenhair tree in England because the leaves of the plant resemble those of the native maidenhair fern.

Ginkgo leaf extract is commonly used as a dietary supplement, but there is no scientific evidence that it supports human health or is effective against any disease.
Ginkgo has been cultivated in China for a long time. It is common in the southern third of the country. Ginkgo has been commonly cultivated in North America for 200 years and in Europe for about 300 years, but during that time, it has never grown naturally.

The Ginkgo tree is the national tree of China, though it was first encountered by westerners in Japan in 1690. The botanist Engelbert Kaempfer was the first to record seeing ginkgo trees growing in the Japanese temple gardens.

Extreme examples of the ginkgo's tenacity may be seen in Hiroshima, Japan, where six trees growing between 1 and 2 kilometres from the 1945 atom bomb explosion were among the few living organisms in the area to survive the blast. Although almost all other plants (and animals) in the area were killed, the ginkgos, though charred, survived and were soon healthy again, among other trees that survived the blast.
