G-Shock Squares in 2023 Featuring the GW-M5610U-1C In Depth Review

The newest addition to my collection of G-Shock Squares is the GW-M5610U-1C. It's one of just 10 different models using the updated Module 3495 which was introduced in 2021. This watch has a nice, clear, positive LCD with just a slight blue tint. There's also a blue stripe around the face of the watch. I like it because it's a pleasant and mostly subtle color scheme. Not too plain and not too fancy. The 3495 module provides a few updated functions and features over the previous module used in GW-M5610 watches. Of course, it has Multiband 6 (a built-in Atomic Time receiver) and Tough Solar (to keep the power supply charged using its built-in solar cell). It has five time zones in the World Time mode, five daily alarms (one of which is a snooze alarm), a 24-hour stopwatch, a countdown timer which can be set from one second up to a full 24 hours and, of course, that legendary G-Shock shock resistance (with 200 meter water resistance too!). The new module allows the user to display the date in a a M-DD or a DD-M format. It allows the user to select from five languages for the day of the week abbreviation too.

The watch uses an LED backlight which can be set to stay on for either 1.5 seconds or 3 seconds whenever it lights up. It can be set to automatically illuminate when the user holds it in the best position to look at the watch in the dark.

Overall, it has everything I like in a G-Shock and the price is still okay (but slightly higher than the "base model" with the red stripe around the face). I suppose that, one day, I might upgrade this to a Casio bracelet rather than the standard, resin strap that came with the watch. But there's no need to rush such a modification. It's a great wearing watch already.
