“At this point it’s in the hands of the gods. We can’t do any more preparation. So… it’s over to them. Let’s get on with it.”

This 25 minute film chronicles the 2019 Tour d'Afrique and the cycling participants that crossed Africa from Cairo to Cape Town. Broken into eight parts, the film tells the story of ordinary people stepping out of their comfort zones, setting aside their preconceptions, and challenging themselves like they've never done before.

They start their grand voyage from the Great Pyramids at Giza, down the Red Sea and alongside the Nile River. Entering Sudan, they traverse the desolate Nubian Desert to Khartoum. They soon reach the biblical Ethiopian Highlands, before tackling the infamous Blue Nile Gorge - possibly the toughest day of the whole tour. They continue south through the arid landscapes of southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya before crossing the equator in the shadow of Mt Kenya en route to Nairobi.

After a thrilling descent passed tea and avocado plantations, Lake Malawi welcomes the cyclists to the 'Warm Heart of Africa'. Zambia's Great Eastern Road features rolling hills and small villages on long hot days en route to Mosi-oa-Tunya, "The Smoke that Thunders". Cyclists then cross the Zambezi River and are wowed by the sight of elephants along Botswana's flat highways skirting the edge of the Kalahari Desert.

In Namibia, riders spin on gravel roads through the scenic Namib Desert, and visit the incredible dunes at Sossusvlei, before entering South Africa en route to the finish line in Cape Town.
