মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক রত্ন। ওনার লেখা প্রতিটি গল্প এবং উপন্যাস অবশ্যই আন্তর্জাতিক মানের যা বাংলা সাহিত্যকে শুধু সমৃদ্ধ করেনি তা আগামী প্রজন্মের লেখকদের দুনিয়া এবং মানুষের মনস্ত্বত্ব বুঝতে সাহসি করেছে যার জন্য বাংলা সাহিত্য আজন্ম ঋণী হয়ে থাকবে।
শিল্পি ওনার লেখা এক অসাধারণ গল্প, বাংলার বয়ন শিল্প একসময়ে পৃথিবীর শ্রেষ্ঠ ছিল, কিন্তু সময়ের সাথে সাথে এবং ইংরেজের শিল্প বিপ্লব বাংলার বয়ন শিল্পকে তছনছ করে দিয়ে তাঁত শিল্পীদের চরম দুরাবস্থায় নিয়ে যায়। সর্বেসর্বা করে তোলে দালাল, ফড়েদের । লেখক এরকম এক হার না মানা তাঁতির গল্প শুনিয়েছেন।।

Manik Bandopadhyay was a gem in Bangla literature. His written stories and Novels are definitely international level which not only enriches Bangla literature but also helps brave, next-gen authors understand the world and human psychology for which Bangla literature is always grateful.
One of his poignant stories is Shilpi. Once Bengal's weavers were famous for their crafts but during the Industrial Revolution of the British drifted them into great suffering. In between the middleman and brokers became powerful. The author wrote about a weaver who was not ready to lose this battle.
