Nikon 50mm 1.8 E Series Comparison of the two Versions of the Lens

Comparison between the two versions of the Nikon 50mm 1.8 E Series lenses. The first version is all black and made of plastic. The second version has a metallic band and is made of metal. I would not recommend buying the first version of the lens unless it was very cheap.
