Gen. Kayihura freed on bail

The Army General Court Martial has granted former Inspector General of Police, Gen Edward Kale Kayihura bail, allowing him to leave detention for the first time in nearly 80 days. Court Chairman Lt.Gen.Andrew Gutti granted Kayihura bail on grounds that its his constitutional right, he is of advanced age, has no previous criminal record, requires specialised medical attention abroad, has substantial sureties who will ensure his return to court for trial and that the prosecution did indicate any likelihood for Gen. Kayihura to interfere with investigations.
