New tool in Tahoe: High efficiency snowmaking helps resorts stay open longer

Weather impacts many industries in our region, including the ski industry. Without enough snow at the right temperatures, many ski resorts like Northstar California Resort had to delay their opening this year. Now ski resorts are looking toward more efficient ways to keep their resorts open as long as possible, yet still be environmentally friendly. "We don’t want to use more energy. We want to reduce our energy consumption and so that’s a big one too when we think about our future and sustainability and how we’re gonna move forward," said Sharon Buhler, director of mountain operations for Northstar.
