A huge basalt rock has been carved into enormous pillars, a giant circular stone, a statue of Nandi Bull, and of course, a stone phallus of Lord Shiva, commonly known as shivling.

Panchaleshwar or Bhamburde Temple are the other names of Pataleshwar Temple.

According to the legends, the temple was built in just a few hours by the Pandavas when they were out in exile and needed shelter.
