BMW X5 and 5 series (e53) (e39) Radio Screen LCD repair - Part 1 - Disassembly

Описание к видео BMW X5 and 5 series (e53) (e39) Radio Screen LCD repair - Part 1 - Disassembly

The BMW E38 7 series, E39 5 series and E53 X5 all have similar problems. The pixels in the cluster and radio fade and die over time, making reading the information displayed on the car very difficult.
In this series of videos I'm showing how I replaced the ribbon connector in the MID Radio unit from my 2002 BMW X5 (e53).

This is a mildly difficult task and took me a few hours and tries to get it right, so I recommend trying it ONLY IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT ON YOUR SKILLS. Some services charge around $150 to get if fixed, if you break your unit while trying to repair I'm sure it's gonna cost you MUCH MORE!

I got my ribbon from AKSPEEDO. I chose it because this ribbon doesn't require soldering. The solder ribbon version from other providers shouldn't be much different.

Have fun, a lot of patience and good luck!
