Drawing on her time spent in Jamaica, Martine Rose took inspiration from the rites
and rituals of the Rasta community for her autumn/winter 2013 collection. Elevation and status are key aspects to the community, but not through riches, through an attitude, an idea, almost a code of conduct. The images of Haile Selassie I, the Lion of Judah, are hugely prominentacross the community and this idea of an all-consuming image is repeated
throughout the collection.Holbein paintings of royals and members of the Church similarly match this idea ofriches; inspired by the nobles' status shown in layering furs, Martine Rose will be using t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and all importantly attitude for her Ghetto Kings.
