Long line work with a fearful Airdale - Cheri Lucas the dog Behaviorist

Since Stevie was a puppy, she'd been given zero boundaries. She was highly reactive to everything and everyone. During the 4 hour drive to my ranch Stevie vocalized at the top of her lungs as her owners passed other cars and cows in fields. She was in a complete panic at the sight of my dogs and burros upon arrival. During this long line session, Stevie's eyes were as wide as saucers as she vacillated from flight, shut down mode and pack drive. You can see from the video that she anticipated my turns almost before I made them. I experimented with different intensities of spatial and leash pressure. Although it's hard to tell from a distance, she was very sensitive to the speed at which I moved in to her. Verbal cues at this stage would have been meaningless.
