The #narcissist will punish as one of their many #controltechniques. #narcissists will use #projection as one of their #controltechniques because it allows them to use #blameshifting and make things about you and not them. They can't take responsibility due to exposure to #shame, so the blame shift. They have many ways to punish you that keep the relationships with #narcissists as #toxicrelationships.

Why do narcissists have to make fun of you all of the time? You are the content of their mean jokes and when you respond by telling them how you feel, they target you with one of their narcissist punishment tactics. What are narcissist punishment techniques used by the narcissist when they are at risk of experiencing narcissistic injury? Why do narcissist have to be mean? Because they need to always protect against feelings of shame and experiencing the narcissistic injury which deflates their narcissistic supply. The narcissist supply is the only way in which they can maintain their image of superiority and they must protect themselves at all costs. The narcissist is mean to you because they need to be mean to you to feel better about themselves. And if the narcissist is being mean, you may ask am I the reason a narcissist is being mean? It is understandable you would take it personally and feel like you are at fault but you aren’t. This is just how the narcissist wants you to feel. They can’t take responsibility for their own behaviors so they blame shift and gaslight as a way to show their complete lack of responsibility taking abilities. The narcissist punishment tactics I discuss in this video include gaslighting, blame shifting, projection, silent treatment, and rage. Each of the narcissist punishment tactics is meant to make you feel bad about yourself and to make you feel like you have no self worth. So, why is the narcissist so critical? Because they have to be critical of you so that they aren’t critical of themselves. This is part of the projection the narcissist is so good at. They feel insecure with themselves but can’t admit it so they become critical of you. So, is the narcissist name calling my fault? No. You are not to blame for, or meant to take responsibility of, the narcissist’s poor behavior. When you can better understand the 5 punishment tactics to keep control of you the narcissist uses, then you can take your control back while you set boundaries.
