Ms. Marvel represents in many ways a very faithful adaptation of the original comic book run featuring Kamala Khan. The show delves deep into her family life and also shows her interest in her idol, Captain Marvel. A key difference lies in how Kamala becomes Ms. Marvel. In the comics, the Terrigen Bomb unlocks her Inhuman powers. In the series, her powers seem to derive from a mysterious bracelet.

The bracelet's origins emerged as the subject of much speculation among fans, generating many theories on Twitter. The theories range from links to comic book weapons of similar style and function, like Quasar's Quantum Bands, to more cinematic ideas like a connection to the Ten Rings from Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
