Teeth Of The Hydra - Steve Vai (Cover)

Here is my attempt at what is probably the HARDEST song I have ever learned. Done on the ‘Hydra’ guitar, a three-neck guitar consisting of a 7-string, 12-string, bass, as well as sympathetic strings, parts of the necks are fretless, not to mention technological features I’m still not sure how to describe…it’s ridiculously unique.

Of course I don’t own this guitar, so here’s my attempt on 4 separate instruments. The sympathetic strings are replaced by a mandolin, and the 12-string is replaced with the Ibanez guitar I acquired at Vai Academy - OH, speaking of which…

Vai Academy started 10 years ago today (release date of this video)! Hosted by Mr Steve Vai himself and featuring guitar icons such as Guthrie Govan, Vernon Reid and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter. I still can’t believe how lucky I was to attend it, the lessons I learned and the people I met - it’s a real treasured memory. It largely inspired me to pursue a career as a musician, and I owe the experience a lot as to where I am today.
