Picking a spot where I was sure to see the 614 work hard uphill, I was not let down. It would be a struggle to come out of the hole onto the ruling grade on the New Castle Sub Division.This scene used to be an everyday occurance for steam . Listen to the engine work into the grade and slow as the load becomes a hard pull. The steam being used begins to squeeze by the valves and squeels in protest. Turn up the volume, listen and enjoy the last day of June 1981.
